Doug Harr, president of the Iowa Audubon Society, recently received copies of some pages from Bird Lore magazine (an early publication started in 1899 by the original Audubon Society). The pages dated from 1899 to 1917. He shared these historical notes:

2023 Christmas Bird Count Results
On 12/30/23, we had a total of 23 participants who counted 71 species and 23,779 total birds! We added an additional 5 species seen during count week, for a total of 76 species. (Count week includes the 3 days before and 3 days after the count day, for a total of 7 days.)
Cleanup at 16th St. Retention Basin
On Sunday, November 19, 2023, Dubuque Audubon organized a cleanup at the 16th Street Retention Basin.
